Every time I start a panel, the instruments are reset to the top left corner.

Q. Are upgrades free of charge?

A. They are free of charge within a major version number. For example all upgrades from version 1.0 to 1.9 are included when the version purchased is of version 1.x. When the major number changes, a new version has to be purchased. A limited time discount is available to owners of the previous version.

Q. How are upgrades delivered?

A. Upgrades are done by downloading the current trial version that will be unlocked by a previously purchased activation code or by use of a USB dongle.

Q. I have problems activating my Panel Builder. Can you help?

A. Follow the instructions in the User Manual. You have to start with Step 1 after you receive a serial number from your reseller (this is different to your order number!) You can also download a short description for the activation process from here.

Q. Is there a bundle package for Panel Builder for X-Plane and FSX?

A. No, currently there is no bundle. Panel Builder Add-On Interfaces are available though.

Q. Is there a Commercial Version for Panel Builder?

A. Yes there is.

Q. Is there a Panel Builder for Lockheed Martin Prepar3D?

A. Yes, a Panel Builder version for Prepar3D is available now.

Q. Can I distribute or resell panels I built with Panel Builder?

A. Panels built with Panel Builder are just a configuration about what background the panel has, what  instruments are used and where they are placed. There is no configuration export or import facility at the moment (except in the Professional Version). The Panel Builder product is always needed to ‘run’ a panel.

Q. Can I run the Flight Simulator and Panel Builder on the same computer?

A. Yes, this is possible. There is a performance hit that has to be considered. Any processing power that Panel Builder requires will be taken away from the Flight Simulator. It all depends how powerful the computer is and how complex the panel is. It is recommended that only smaller panels with a few instruments or a late generation Intel I7 processor is used. Otherwise it is strongly recommended to use a 2nd, networked computer for the Panel Builder.

Q
. When I start FSX, the instrument panel disappears.

A. This has to do when running FSX and Panel Builder on the same computer (single computer setup). When FSX runs in full screen mode, it takes over all monitors on the computer. The solution is to run FSX in windowed mode (ALT+ENTER) and resize the FSX window as required. The other solution is to run Panel Builder on a second, networked computer. This problems does not apply to X-Plane.

Q. Does Panel Builder work on Windows XP?

A. No, Panel Builder requires Windows Vista or greater.

Q. My Instruments do not react or show any data from my simulator

A. This can have to do with that you have multiple network adapters in your computer. Panel Builder will automatically select the first adapter in the list. If you have additional adapters (like virtual adapters, bluetooth or wireless adapters), you need to change the order of the adapters in the list. To do this go to:
Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center / Change Adapter Settings. Then select the menu option ‘Advanced’ in the top menu bar and select ‘Advanced Settings...’ in the drop-down menu. You will get a screen looking like this (the actual entries in the Connections box might be different):

Network Adaptor Order 3

Now use the up and down arrows on the right, until the desired network adapter is on top of the list. This will be the adapter Panel Builder will use. Click on [OK] to finish. If you use multiple computers, you need to do this on all computers where Panel Builder is installed.

Q. My Instruments lag behind my Flight Simulator Instruments.

A. If you are using FSX or Prepar3D, upgrade to Panel Builder Version 2.7. The FSX and Prepar3D Interfaces have been performance improved. Another possibility is if you are using a 2 computer setup and using a wireless network between them. We strongly recommend to use a hardwired network connection. One more possibility is that when using a 2 computer setup with either a cross-over cable or a network switch (no router!). In this case you need to assign static IP addresses to both of your computers as there is no device on your network that provides those dynamically. If you have a router in your network, this does not apply.

Q. Does Panel Builder work on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10?

A. Yes, all versions of Panel Builder from 2.1 or greater do.

Q. Is there a version of Panel Builder for older version of MS Flight Simulator?

A. Yes, Panel Builder for Microsoft Flight Simulator has a FSUIPC Interface included. It supports Flight Simulator 2004 and other versions supported by FSUIPC. A working version of FSUIPC has to be installed. (unregistered version is supported). Only MS Flight Simulator 2004 has been tested. Any other version might require changing of offsets. The interface is fully configurable with different offsets. Note: Lockheed Martin PREPAR3D is not supported by this version.

Q. Does Panel Builder support X-Plane 10.20 or greater, the 64bit version of X-Plane?

A. Yes, it does. Both a X-Plane 9 Interface that is suitable for X-Plane 9 and X-Plane 10.10 and a X-Plane 10 Interface that supports X-Plane 10.20 or greater are included. The X-Plane 10 Interface supports both 32bit and 64bit Versions of X-Plane 10.20 or greater.

Q. Do you develop additional instruments on request?

A. Yes we do. Depending on complexity we can add instruments on request free of charge.  They will be made available through a version upgrade or sent directly to the requester.  We also take on commissioned work for providing instruments for integration into customized flight simulators for exclusive use.

Q. Will there be a GPS?

A. A GPS is available now.

Q. I installed the GPS Add-On or the EFIS Add-On but get an error that the file System.Data.SQLite.dll cannot be found or loaded when launching the GPS.

A. On some system this file fails to install, probably because of the antivirus program installed. You can download the file from http://www.simplugins.com/System.Data.SQLite.dll then place it into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\Instruments_GPS.
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\EFIS Panel Builder\Instruments_GPS

You might also need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 runtimes (x86 and x64) if they are not installed on your system. You can get those at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 and http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632 respectively. In newer versions of our applications, the runtimes are included in the installer.

Q. Is there a version of Panel Builder for X-Plane running on Mac?

A. Panel Builder will only work on MS Windows. There is a plugin for X-Plane 10 on the Mac available on request. You still need a networked Windows Computer for the Instrument Panel.

Q. Is there a version of Panel Builder for X-Plane running on Linux?

A. Currently there are no plans for a Linux version.

Q. The Turn Indicator does not work when using Panel Builder with MS Flight Simulator

A. Make sure you disable ‘Auto Rudder’ in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Q. When I start the Panel, I cannot see any instruments, just the background is visible.

A. Install Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 Extended. Download it from Microsoft and install it on your computer with Panel Builder.

Q. When I start the Panel, the instruments appear for about 1 second, then go black.

A. Some instruments (radios and other navigation instruments) and all EFIS Instruments require that the Avionics Power Switch is on.

Q. When I click on [Connect] in simPlugins FSX, I get an error message.

A. The Panel Builder FSX Interface requires Microsoft FSX SP2 (Service Pack 2) or Microsoft FSX Acceleration.

Q.When I start simPluginsFSX or simPluginsFSUIPC, I get an error message. Using FSX Steam Edition.

A. After installing the Steam Edition of FSX, the simConnect Interface that is required by Panel Builder is not installed automatically. You need to manually install it be running the following program:

Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK\SimConnect.msi

Q. Every time I start a panel, the instruments are reset to the top left corner.

A. We had one report from a customer that this happens when Windows Speech is used. Disabling it will solve the problem. We are investigating why this happens.

Q. I can only see the instruments partially, they seem to be cut-off.

A. This has to do with the screen setting in Windows. Go to Windows Control Panel, then select display and make sure you select ‘Smaller - 100%’ in the display setting.

Q. Can I make simPluginsFSX, simPluginsFSUIPC, simPluginsPrepar3D or simPluginsPrepar3D20 start automatically?

A. Yes you can, you need FSUIPC (free version is sufficient). To configure this you need to modify the FSUIPC4.ini file and add a command at the end of the file. See below for the different simulators:

FS2009: edit C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSUIPC.ini

Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[Programs]
Run1=KILL,C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\simPluginsFSUIPC.exe start

FSX: edit C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini

Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[Programs]
Run1=KILL,C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\simPluginsFSX.exe start

P3D V1.X: edit C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini

Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[Programs]
Run1=KILL,C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\simPluginsPrepar3d.exe start

P3D V2.X: edit C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini

Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[Programs]
Run1=KILL,C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\PreparedV2\simPluginsPrepar3d20.exe start

Q. Panel Builder P51D no longer works after upgrading DCS World

A. As of version 1.2.3 of DCS World, the export.lua file is expected in a different location as described
in the User Manual. Here is what you have to do to get it working again:

    1. Create a new folder called ‘Scripts’ under
        C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\DCS

    2. Copy the export.lua file from
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Panel Builder\lua

       to

       C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts

You need to replace [USERNAME] with your actual windows user name
